One of Sacramento’s legendary burger joints is the squeeze inn. I had heard about the place from my late brother some years ago but we never had the chance to visit. Julie, Ron’s wife, told me that he loved taking visitors there as part of his unofficial tour. We came across this place just down the street from where we rented a car in the downtown area. The people at Hertz told us we had to eat here while we were in town.
The people at Hertz told us we had to eat here while we were in town. The signature item is a burger with a cheese ‘skirt’. Much of The cheese ends up being fried because it melts into the grill.-but it’s good.-
The picture of the guy eating is not me. Susie took a picture of the man eating his burger and I had to eradicate a good part of his face so I wouldn’t get sued.
The place where we ate, a new location, was very sterile and had none of the ambience the original establishment was purported to have because of its very small seating area. It was forced to close in 2010 when it could not meet the requirements of the ADA act.
I am not disparaging the ADA act- I have a very good friend who is wheelchair bound – but I do think some cooler heads should have prevailed with the lawsuit that was filed forcing the place to close.
