I don’t understand.

Yesterday’s Indianapolis Star featured a story on the Indiana Youth Group (IYG), an LGBT organization aimed at young people ages 12 – 20. I am not on here to discuss the merits (or demerits?) of this group. It’s not really any of my business. But the story included something that caught my eye and I wanted to comment as objectively as I can.
The IYG offers a seminar or class or discussion (I don’t know which) listed under social development on their website. It is titled ‘Condoms are cool and dental dams are dandy.”
As the title of this post says, I don’t understand. I get the condom part but What do dental dams have to do with anything? Are they teaching dental hygiene or is this something that, at my age, I don’t want to know about?
If it’s the latter, I don’t really need an answer. I’m already having enough trouble living in this modern age without some other revelation that I’ll be unable to digest.
In this case, I suppose ignorance is bliss.
