A new member of the family.

October 9, 2007

We got some good news last friday night. Both Susie and I are ecstatic and very happy for the two of them.

In case you’re wondering…..

I have neglected my web logging duties to some extent because of more pressing matters in the world of finance. Susie and I own a small condo in Indianapolis that we lease and our current tenant just left the premises. She left behind a housefull of wallpaper covered walls ripped to shreds by her cat. Luckily, the damn thing could only reach 32 inches or so except in areas where it stood on end tables or counters.

We initially thought we would have to remove all the wallpaper but I’m trying to save everything above 32 inches and the remainder will be part of a wainscoting scheme.  Still, this has necessitated the removal of roughly 600 square feet of grasscloth wall covering. With much experimenting, I’ve arrived at a combination of hot water, fabric softener and a Sherwin Williams product called Piranha. (It ‘eats’ the paste.)

I do the scraping and Susie follows behind repairing any scraper damage, sanding,  applying a Kilz primer and then sanding again.  After eight days, we’re about 300 feet into the process and hope to finish before the first of the month.

You will notice the pink gloves. I was a little concerned about the paste eating product so I bought some heavy rubber gloves.  This was the only color available in the large size. Apparently manly colors (I asked about camouflage or black) in rubber gloves are not manufactured.  I suspected this to be true when I received a free breast examination chart in the rubber glove packaging material.

On numerous occasions the past few days, Having this chart in my possession while approaching Susie  has made her more than a little nervous but she should relax. Normally all I want to do is ask her a question.

Incidentally, If the incarcerated prisoners in our country were made to remove wallpaper as part of their sentence, I expect that the criminal epidemic would dry up overnight.

Incidentally part two: If you’re thinking of real estate as an investment tool, boy, have I got news for you.

endangering the gene pool.

I realize this news is 3 or 4 days old and not worth the two minutes I’m going to take to comment on it.  I just pray they don’t have children although I doubt they will be married long enough to consider that. This news as well as knowing there’s a person out there who reports news like this has me considering an additional category to my web log entitled  ’save the gene pool’ or words to that effect.  It would report on people who should not reproduce.

The only thing stopping me (actually there’s three things – I’m trying to write this on an empty stomach is one, I occasionally write after eating is two and three….. ) is that I would have to read stuff like this on a regular basis.
